September 2017 Uja di Mondrone 2964 mt [on air Elements (Lindsey Stirling)]

Checked the weather and decided to go out for one more summit on the last summer day

I was absolutely astonished when got to the top of this mountain. The last hour is half way climbing and hiking , ok there is no need to be that much prepared but still, thinking that you have to come back from the same path you do need to put much effort in it.

Probably one of the best day (weather talking) of the season, no wind and warm sun, even tho on top there were about 5 degrees :-P

One more on my own but luckily I meet an amazing group of three who helped me a lot on the way down. Adrenaline everywhere.

This one was surprisely awesome, i could not expect anything better !

Ho controllato le previsioni, bel tempo, ed allora ho deciso di andare a fare un'ultima escursione nell'ultimo giorno d'estate.

Sono rimasto stupefatto dalla bellezza di questa montagna, dalla bellezza del percorso ed anche dalla sua varia difficoltà.
L'utlima oretta è un continuo alternarsi di arrampicata misto camminata che non da tregua e non annoia. Intendiamoci, nessun passaggio davvero impegnativo ma bisonga essere un pochino preparati fisicamente e non patire troppo le altezze dati un paio di punti un pochino particolari.

Probabilmente è stata una delle giornate più belle dal punto di vista meterologico, niente vento, il sole caldo ed in cima s stava bene anche se il termometro misurava circa 5 gradi.

Partito ed arrivato in cima da solo, sono stato raggiunto da un gruppo di persone fantastico, erano in tre e non li ringrazierò mai abbastanza per avermi aiutato durante la discesa, ci sono un paio di punti dove si deve letteramente disarrampicare senza corde, dove il supporto di qualcuno che conosce il percorso è stato fondamentale.

Non me la aspettavo davvero cosi bella! tornerò sicuramente

September 2017 - Ceresole Reale [ on air River flows in you (Yiruma)]

This does not needs any additional words - images are more than enought - you can reach this place by car, one hour driving from Turin - this is a semi-artificial lake with a massive dyke.

La gita alla diga di Ceresole Reale, alla portata di tutti, vale la pena farla in una giornata di sole - raggiungibile in auto in un' oretta partendo da Torino

August 2017 - Monte Thabor 3178 mt [Livin' On A Prayer (Bon Jovi)]

There we are - this will be the first 3000 for my girlfriend - she picked it up - she decided when to go.
I agreed, also because i never get up this one before :-)

She Left home very early in the morning, we knew how long that could last (up to 4.30 hours - one way) and she came to pick me up at the office, I was on night shift the night before.

Is was ggod to get back over 3000 once again this year, the season is almost ended - Funny thing - we were bloody shattered when got back to the car - this is a very massive long walk! The last part on the way up is pretty hard, and so is on the way down... end of story, never wanted a beer so badly like that day when we finished! :-D

As always the view was stunning !!!

Eccoci qui - questo sarà il primo 3000 per la mia ragazza - ha scelto il monte - ha scelto il giorno - ho accettato anche perchè non ero mai salito dul Thabor prima :-)
Lei è partita molto presto da casa ed è venuta a recuperarmi in ufficio, finivo il turno di notte.

E' stato molto bello andare oltre i 300 ancora una volta quest'anno , la stagione estiva sta quasi per finire ormai.

Quandi siamo ritornati alla macchina eravamo davvero distrutti, belliissima e panoramica passeggiata, lunghissima. La parte finale della salita e quindi la prima parte della discesa sono davvero impegnative.
Credo di non aver mai desiderato una birra cosi fortemente come quel giorno non appena ritornati al punto di partenza :-D

Come è prevedibile il panorama era stupendo

August 2017 - Lago Afframont [ on air Paradise City (Guns n' roses)]

Today we decided to change a little bit, and kind of explore a new area (for me) by Turin.
My girlfriend took me to this amazing mountain lake. Too bad we left home quiet late and we could no stay much time by the lake.

A 2 hours walk - hiking, easy if you took off few parts of the path :-)

A the end this what you will find, not too many details in the pictures just because someone in the area would might like to go and i do not want to spoiler too much about - it's suprising!

Oggi abbiamo deciso di andare nella Valle di Lanzo, praticamente nuova ai miei occhi, avedo prefvalentemente frequestato la Val Susa.

La mia ragazza mi ha portato al Lago Afframont, sopra Balme - 2 orette di camminata, un sentiero piacevole tolti un paio di punti dove si inerpica abbastanza  - un paio di foto per non spoilerare troppo, vale la pena farci un salto.

Peccato che noi siamo partiti nel pomeriggio inoltrato e ce lo siamo potuti godere solo per poco tempo.

August 2017 - Rocciamelone 3538 mt [on air Glory days (The Boss)]

All right - so this is the highest summit in my area, 3538 mt a.s.l. - this is not the first time for me to got to the top but is the first time I attempt it walking in the dark of the night to see the sunrise from the top.

Left the car at the parking at 1.30 in the morning the adventure begun. It's supposed to last between 3.30 and 4 hours.

I was not alone this time, but with 3 friends who knows the path better than me. Unfortunately, even if does not present difficult spot, a lot of people got lost and someone also died due to bad weather found it during the ascent.

With our front lights we were ready to go... we could see clouds and lightning by the summit, but also was very windy so we decide to carry on anyway.

There is an alpin hut when you are almost at half way, so we were not completely foolish... the wind kept blowing for a couple of hours and more stars came out, it was just stunning at a certain point.

There was a moment when you could see stars without even recline your head, there were in front of you.

After 3.15 hours we were on top...still windy but not lightening anymore. Clouds were running so fast... we opened a bottle of red wine and we awaited for the sun to rise eating sandwiches.

It has been amazing... at some point we were exactly in the middle of two layers of clouds, with the sun in front of us...

Eccoci, la cima piu alta della valle in cui vivo, 3538 mt s.l.m.
Non è stata la prima volta per me in cima, ma è stata la prima con l'ascesa fatta in notturna.
Questa volta niente solitaria, mi sono affidato a 3 amici che conoscevano bene la via.

Abbiamo lasciato l'auto al 1.30 del mattino, consapevoli che ci sarebbero volute fino a 4 ore per essere in cima. Il Rocciamelone non è una vetta complicata, ma molte persone hanno perso il sentiero e qualcuna ha perso la vita a causa della velocita con cui cambia il tempo.

Accese le lampade frontali abbiamo cominciato a camminare, non potendo fare a meno che in cima era ben scuro e c'erano lampi e fulmini qua e la. Il fatto di avere un rifugio quasi a metà strada ci ha dato il coraggio di partire lo stesso.
C'era un sacco di vento, quindi speravamo che il tempo migliorasse e che ci permettesse di ammirare l'alba dalla cima. Dopo un paio d'ore di cammino in mezzo al vento forte le stelle cominciarono a fare capolino, ed erano davvero tante. Addirittura in certi punti potevi vedere le stelle senza nemmeno inclinare la testa, erano lì, davanti a te.

Siamo arrivati in cima dopo circa 3.15, vento ancora molto forte che faceva correre le nuvole ad una velocità assurda.
Abbiamo aperto una bottiglia di vino rosso nel bivacco in cima ed abbiamo aspettato l'alba mangiando pane e salame.

Ne è assolutemente valsa la pena, c'è stato un momento in cui eravamo esattamente in mezzo a due strati di nuvole con in sole di fronte a noi.

August 2017 - Lago dei Sette Colori [on air Born to run (The Boss)]

This lake is a must from my point of view, the path to get there is just beautiful, colours and view are stunning. You can reach it within an hour walking leaving your car about two hours away from Turin city.

Se vi trovate dalle parti di Torino, alta Val Susa prendetevi mezza giornata di tempo per visitare il Lago dei Sette colori, la passeggiata è molto semplice, adatta a tutti, dura circa un'oretta e il panorama è stupendo.

July 2017 - Lago Nero [on air The Sound of Silence (Simon & Garfunkel)]

There are moment in life where what you do really need is silence and peace.
So i took my new car and left my house to spend a night in tend, on my own, in the middle of nothing (almost). Light up a fireplace for myself, cook some meet, read a book, drink some wine, stare at the stars and fall asleep.

It was exactly like that - it was well needed  - absolutely useful for the soul

Ci sono momenti nella vita nei quali tutto ciò di cui hai bisogno è silenzio e pace.
Ho caricato la mia nuova macchina e sono partito per passare una notte in tenda, da solo con me stesso, nel bel mezzo del nula (o quasi). Accendere un fuoco, cucinare della carne, leggere un libro, bere del buon vino, perdersi guardando le stelle e addormentarsi.

E' stato esattamente così, era necessario ed assolutamente fondamentale per l'anima

July 2017 - The Chaberton [on air Crazy (Aerosmith)]

This mountain has always been significant for me, it's beautiful, majestic and probably is the one who make me falling in love with mountains and hike.

The very first time I have got to the Chaberton's top (3131 a.s.l.) I was 11. My first 3000, my first very mountain summit. The excursion was organized from the Summer camp , guys and girls from 11 to 18. A two day excursion to permit everyone to get up there.

I precisely remember every moment. We left the town of Claviere,  with our backpack on the shoulders, all in line. About 20/25 persons. We had to carry tents, food for dinner and for breakfast.
I remember my dad gave me his hiking's backpack (was one of the best on the market in that period ) so i could even carry the tent. I remember the bread big pack (5kgs looks big to an 11 years old) which was kind of shared/carry - 5 minutes on everyone shoulders in addition to their stuff.
I remember when we stopped in a massive prairie to mount our tents, I remember going in the wood looking for some firewood. I remember the big fireplace around which we played games and had dinner. I remember the stars...before that night, in my life,  I never had chance to see soo many stars!
Early in the morning, we left the camp focused on the very top.

I was left behind with a friend, definitely behind, but we got to the top. It was windy but the view was just incredible and astonishing. I remeber the chocolate and bread we had up there and the group photo shooted with an old film camera.
Yes, I believe it was that moment when I felt in love with mountains

Today, after 24 years, I will get back up there

It has been beautiful like the first time, a lot of memories during the path, the weather wasn't that pleasent tho.
It was raining on the top even if an half hour before was still sunny, and the sun come back out during the way back to the car. This took me about 4 hours to get up and another 3.30 to get back which includes about one hour in the rain.
I got to the car shattered but happy and satisfied.

Questa montagna ha sempre avuto un significato particolare per me,  è bellissima ed imponente e probabilmente è quella che mi ha fatto innamorare dei monti e delle lunghe passeggiate nella natura.
La prima volta che salii sullo Chaberton (3131 s.l.m.) avevo 11 anni. Il mio primo 3000, la mia prima vera vetta. La gita era stata organizzata dalla colonia estiva che frequentavo, bambini e ragazzi dagli 11 ai 18 anni. Organizzata su due giorni per rendere la salita agevole a tutti.
Ricordo precisamente ogni momento di quella gita. Partimmo da Claviere, con i nostri zaini sulle spalle, tutti in fila. Eravamo circa 20/25 ragazzi. Avevamo da trasportare tende e cibo per tutti, per la cena e la colazione. Ricordo che mio papà mi aveva prestato il suo zaino da trekking, era uno dei migliori per l'epoca, cosi potevo portare la tenda. Sono sempre stato un ragazzetto minuto, ma il peso sulle spalle non l'ho mai patito, ero troppo carico ed eccitato per sentire fatica.
Ricordo i sacchi del pane, sacchi da 5 kg che passavano di spalla in spalla ogni 5 minuti, ricordo quando abbiamo montato le tende sull'immenso pianoro a metà della salita. Siamo andati a cercar la legna per il falò, abbiamo mangiato panini, giocato intorno al falò e guardato le stelle. Non ne avevo mai viste cosi tante prima di allora. La mattina seguente, di buon mattino, lasciammo al campo solo un paio di persone e partimmo per la vetta.
Rimasi molto indietro, insieme ad una mia compagna di avventura... arrivammo per ultimi in cima, tirava vento, ma la vista era qualcosa di inimmaginabile per un ragazzino di 11 anni.
Ricordo il pane e cioccolato datoci dalla guida, ricordo la foto di gruppo fatta in vetta con una vecchia macchina fotografica a pellicola.
Si, credo di essermi innamorato in quel momento della montagna...

Ed oggi, dopo 24 anni ho deciso di ritornare lassù.

E' stato splendido come la prima volta. Il tempo questa volta non mi ha assistito, mancava meno di un'ora per la cima e c'era un sole caldo ed il cielo azzurro... ma più mi avvicinavo alla vetta e più le nuvole salivano...arrivato dopo poco meno di quattro ore di cammino è arrivata la pioggia. Non mi sono soffermato troppo sulla cima, faceva freddo nonostante fossi ben attrezzato. Sono rientrato di buon passo, fortunatamente a metà della via di discesa la pioggia lasciò nuovamente spazio al sole. Arrivai alla macchina distrutto, soddisfatto, asciutto.

June 2017 - Monte Rocciavrè (on air Creep [Radiohead)]

This is the longest i have done this year, a magnificient way up from 1040mt to 2778 mt (a.s.l.) - 4 hours to get to the very Top, and this one, was really a TOP!

Total time 9 hrs... almost paintful at the end beacuse of the infinite way back.. but still, can't wait to do it again, maybe, staying overninght at the Rifugio Balma, or by the lake with my tent.



Questa è l' escursione più lunga fatta quest' anno, una spettacolare salita da 1040 mt a 2778 mt (s.l.m.) - 4 ore per arrivare in cima, è questa è davvero una cima.

Tempo totale 9 ore, faticosa davvero nel finale, la discesa è davvero lunga. Non vedo l'ora di rifarla, magari passando la notte al Rifugio Balma o vicino al lago con la tenda.

June 2017 - Lago di Viana - Viu' - Torino [on air What' s up (4 Non Blondes)]

Today there is not a Top to reach but a valley to discover, so let's get ready then! :-)
Begun at the Alpe Bianca at 1450mt (a.s.l.) we got up to  Viana Lake at 2200mt (a.s.l.), quite long way, with a spectacular landscapes.


Oggi non si va dritti su una cima precisa, abbiamo una valle nuova da scoprire, partiamo dall' Alpe Bianca a 1450 mt (s.l.m.) per fermarci al Lago di Viana a 2200 mt (s.l.m.), piuttosto lunga come passeggiata ma gli scenari spettacolari non mancano!

June 2017 - Salita al Civrari - [on air - More than A Feeling (Boston)]

Had to wake up early today as per I decide to get over 2000mt (a.s.l.).
45 minutes by car to get to Niquidetto village, get my boots and my map and go, on the way to the top of Monte Civrari.
From 1180mt (a.s.l.) to 2302mt (a.s.l.)

Sveglia presto oggi, ho voglia di superare i 2000 mt (s.l.m.).
45 minuti di macchina per raggiungere localita Niquidetto, infilare i miei scarponi, imbracciare la cartina e partire alla volta della cima del monte Civrari.
Da 1180mt (s.l.m.) a 2302mt (s.l.m.)

The path is fantastic, rocks, grass, river, lake... just wow, pretty hard at the very beginning but then is gettin more confortable and is a path for everyone.

Il sentiero è fantastico, roccette, prati, ruscelli e laghetti di montagna, non manca nulla. L'inizio decisamente faticoso per poi andare scemando, un sentiero per tutti.

Civrari's Top is pretty tight, but there is enought space to have some healty lunch and get some pictures. 360 degrees of view makes this Top one of my favourite. A peak ring is available here, i will be back to cover it very soon.
Total time to get up 2 hours 15 minutes
Tip: bring some warm clothes... it was a very sunny and hot day, however on top, with the wind I pleasantly wear my winter jumper ^_^

La cima del Civrari è una cresta piuttosto stretta ma c'è abbastanza pazio per fare un pranzetto e scattare qualche fotografia. La visuale completa a 360 gradi fà di questa cima una delle mie preferite. C'è un anello che si può percorrere in cresta una volta in cima, ritornerò sicuramente per farlo.
Tempo totale di salita: 2 ore e 15 minuti
Consiglio: nonostate fosse una giornata davvero calda ed assolata, una volta in cima, a causa del vento, ho volentieri indossato il mio pile invernale ^_^
